Risks to global financial stability is elevated. Cracks in the financial system may turn into worrisome fault lines should a soft landing of the global economy hoped for by investors and policymakers does not materialize.

A weak tail of banks globally is uncovered by the IMF's global stress test and key risk indicator methodologies in a higher-for-longer environment. In response to the vulnerabilities that are found, enhancements to supervisory practices and regulatory standards are proposed.
